Languages

The exams are over and I don't have a job, so I can spend more time doing what I want. Like studying languages. Unfortunately, I don't speak what you might call my native language very well. I decided to change that last year. I started to spend time learning it. Well, until university started again and we started learning the second foreign language, German. It was getting kind of hard to keep up with my native language, German, and English on top of that. So I focused on what I was studying at the university.

The thing is that learning my native language was mentally easier for me. First of all, because I already know it a little bit. Second, I do it for myself. I can take my time. I don't have to worry about someone killing me because I forgot something.

German, on the other hand, is a completely new language for me. I can't really take my time because there is a curriculum and there are other subjects I have to study. And I have to worry about my performance. Learning new languages is amazing, but also fucking stressful (which is just the university experience in a nutshell, I guess).

Anyway, I'm going to try to take my time with both of them now. I need to refresh my knowledge of my native language and continue to study it. And make sure I don't forget German over the summer. But I also want to try to learn Japanese...oh boy.
