Trips
And on today's episode of "What is Sanloo reminiscing about today?" We have family trips. Before I moved I used to go where I live now every year on summer vacations. We always traveled by car. I've never been on a plane or a train. But I know my family has. It would be cool to travel somewhere by train. But a plane? No. Just no. I don't care how safe people say it is.
I mean, we still take trips here and there in the summer, but they are a lot shorter than in the good old days. We no longer stop at roadside cafes to eat (although I don't miss the toilets there, ew). I remember liking this one cafe that had an aquarium. They had big portions too. We don't stay in motels where the TVs usually don't work anymore. And when they did work, they only had one or two channels in very shitty quality, lol.
I felt a strange sense of freedom sitting in the back of the car back then. I could do whatever I wanted all day and no one would bother me! Well, 'anything' was usually me watching glittery gifs on my dad's phone, playing on my mom's phone, reading, sleeping or daydreaming. Oh yeah, my first and only experience of sleep paralysis was during one of the trips. Also, one of my first memories I can rememeber was in the car during the trip. Imagine that one of your earlier memories was that you were disappointed to be alive and conscious.
These trips felt like adventures to me. But I understand why we don't do it anymore. My dad literally can't go on such long trips anymore because of his health. I guess it wasn't a lot of fun for him to be behind the wheel for so long in the first place. But I miss it sometimes. Although it is strange that the sound of a truck passing by can trigger nostalgia.
