While you don't see much of Zack in the original FFVII, except for the true flashback of the Nibelheim incident and the optional cutscene, he's still there. He was Aerith's love, he helped Cloud escape, and it was his mannerism that Cloud's scrambled brain partially mixed with other things to create this image of the SOLDIER that Cloud never was.

His character was explored later in Crisis Core. And while Crisis Core is certainly a game, I can't help but love him. He is just...lovely :). And he's definitely the type of character I absolutely adore. There is something going on with him in the remake trilogy. Not sure what exactly, but we'll see how it goes.

I know he's kind of a controversial character in the fanbase, but fuck it. It's my place and I get to choose which character I want to dedicate a shrine to.
